The Game of Continuous Delivery (Part 1)
“It’s not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most adaptable to change.” ~ Charles Darwin

The most critical step in Continuous Delivery adoption is identifying the bottlenecks in the product development cycle. In this interactive tutorial, you will learn about tools and methods that facilitate the bottleneck discovery as well as ways to deal with the most common bottlenecks that cripple development process.

To solidify the concepts, you will play the “Continuous Delivery” game, competing with other Agile teams to deliver feature to production while improving your software delivery process. This game serves as a great tool to understand the importance of automating Quality Gates and investing into process improvement initiatives to achieve long-term success.

Session takeaways

  • Learn to identify and prioritize the bottlenecks in the software delivery lifecycle,
  • Leverage Tools available in the market to address above bottlenecks (e.g. test environments, manual regression)
  • Use innovative techniques to move towards Continuous Delivery.

Improv(e) Your Self!
Improvisation is simply the process of creating and performing spontaneously and simultaneously. By this definition, we are all improvisers.  Since birth, we have all been living life without a script - making it up as we go.

Comparatively, Improvisational Comedy - sometimes called Improv - is a form of theater in which a performance is created in the moment in order to entertain an audience. The details - the context and the purpose - make a difference. Successful Improv requires considerable preparation, and involves learning and using a variety of principles and skills which allow performers to better extract and expand ideas, make them manifest and meaningful, and quickly adapt to a constantly changing environment and new information. These principles and skills - the "rules" of improv - are also very useful in contexts outside of theater and are frequently applied as teaching tools for varying purposes.

In this workshop, I focus on the "rules" of Improv. After a brief introduction to Improv, I explain various Improv "rules", demonstrate each with help from the audience, and then collaboratively (and improvisationally!) explore how the same Improv "rule" might be correlated and useful to various, different contexts and purposes.

This workshop is for any and all! No matter your background, experience, interest, or goals, you’re sure to laugh, learn, and leave with practical ways to Improv(e) Your Self!

Quality Leaders: Today, Tomorrow, and The Next Generations
What challenges and opportunities exist for quality leaders of tomorrow? Let's look at some emerging technology problems.

Today many AI products and tools are missing global voices and cultural data. This might mean that future AI systems will internalize the same lack of cultural diversity that we find in several media narratives -- unless there are interventions in collection, usage, and sharing of data about world cultures. Join Davar Ardalan, CEO of IVOW, an AI storytelling startup, as she explores ways to invite global voices into AI as we collaboratively build the foundations for Cultural IQ in machines.

Following this talk, let's discuss the roles, skills and future landscape development for quality leaders.
